Gonzalve de Cordoue, CEO of Međunarodna zračna luka Zagreb (MZLZ) d.d. addressed all guests and emphasized the importance of new passengers’ terminal within the goal to turn Zagreb into important regional hub.

“Around thirty Croatian construction companies and more than 1000 workers will be engaged in the next two years on the project of construction a new passengers’ terminal. We are very happy that we found truly professionals here in Croatia, as from the very beginning of the project it was our intention to engage local companies for the vast majority of works. All works related to construction and equipping new passengers’ terminal will be carried out by domestic companies. We plan to import only some equipment, such as scanners for passengers,. We will soon announce a complete list of other Croatian companies which will be involved in works of high-construction and equipping the airport, as we are about to sign contracts about cooperation. Contract about cooperation has already been signed with Viadukt, construction company which we consider to be a reliable partner in consortium and the best choice for infrastructural works in the first phase of construction a new passengers’ terminal”, said Victor Stefanescu, Managing Director – Southern Central Europe Bouygues Batiment International (BBI). Site manager from Bouygues Batiment International (BBI) will be Robert Popielarski.

Mentioned contract between BBI and Viadukt was signed last week, and its value is 390 million Kuna, VAT excluded. This way, Viadukt will carry out all construction works, and beside the ones at new terminal building, it will be responsible for a major drainage system, aprons, accesses to runways, parking lots, access roads, viaduct, tunnel and other infrastructure.

"This project ensures much for Viadukt in the next three years: business stability and full employment, furthermore, we will employ hundreds of workers. We have a young, but already proven team, and this project is their opportunity to demonstrate their expertise and quality. Technical principles which are achieved within this project, belong to the most valuable knowledge currently and are a great example of how to optimally utilize symbiosis of two related fields – architecture and engineering", said Josko Mikulic, CEO of Viadukt and emphasized that site manager from Viadukt will be Marino Ožbolt.

Beside already mentioned works, a vast majority of Viadukt’s engagement is related to construction of drainage system which will be related to the highest EU standards.
The new passengers’ terminal will turn Zagreb airport into a top international airport and a first-rate feature of the modern identity of Zagreb and Croatia, emphasized both academicians Branko Kincl and Velimir Neidhardt, authors of design solutions for the new airport who are with prof. dr. Jure Radić winners of international tender from 2008.
